Dr. Charity Usifoh Chenge

Dr. Charity Usifoh Chenge is Co-Founder and Governing Council Member of WiPHLA. She brings over 25 years of leadership experience in global health, infectious disease control, and health systems strengthening across Africa and globally. Dr. Usifoh Chenge has held senior roles at the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, where she managed portfolios exceeding $173 million. She co-led Nigeria's Early Infant Diagnosis (EID) HIV programme, scaling it from 6 to over 6,500 clinical sites — one of the most significant diagnostic scale-ups on the continent. She is the recipient of the Arthur B. Holzworth Award for distinguished service in global health. Her expertise spans programme management, strategic planning, and health service delivery, with a focus on ensuring that women and children benefit from equitable access to life-saving health interventions across West Africa.
